DADE CITY -- The search continued Wednesday for two men who shot a business owner in the leg Tuesday night during a robbery attempt.
The men approached Suleiman "Sam" Agwah, the owner of the Shake-n-Go Beauty Supply at 14739 Seventh St., about 8 p.m. as he was closing up shop for the night, Dade City police Capt. Linda Register said.
Agwah was carrying a bag of money from the business, and the men demanded he hand it over, Register said.
But Agwah threw the bag, and one of the men fired a gunshot into his upper left thigh, authorities said. Agwah broke his left arm as he fell to the asphalt parking lot.
A helicopter took Agwah to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where he spent his 31st birthday Wednesday recovering from the attack. No information was available on his condition.
A Pasco County police dog searched for the men Tuesday night, and officers continued Wednesday to follow leads they hope will point to the attackers.
Both were described as black men wearing black pants, dark hooded sweat shirts, black gloves and black bandanas. They are about 6 feet tall with thin builds.
It is unclear whether they took off with the money bag Agwah was holding, Register said. Police were unable to find it Tuesday night, although they planned to interview him Wednesday afternoon to gather more information about the attack, she said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Dade City Police Department at (352) 521-1495.
