Car kills pedestrian on U.S. 19By Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published April 21, 2003 HUDSON -- A pedestrian was killed late Friday at U.S. 19 and New York Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Ernest B. Michie, 58, was struck by a 1991 Mercury at about 10:23 p.m, a FHP dispatcher said. No other official details were available Sunday. Michie's son, Lee, said his father left Calvary Chapel Worship Center, where he watched the Easter play, and was supposedly taking someone home before heading to his daughter's house in New Port Richey. "I don't know what happened in between," Lee Michie said. He said his father worked part time as a security guard and was taking computer classes at Pasco-Hernando Community College. "He kept himself very busy." Hudson woman faces drug charges HUDSON -- A 55-year-old Hudson woman was arrested Saturday and accused of trafficking in the painkiller hydrocodone, a first-degree felony that carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in prison. Law officials said June E. Wagner, last address 15905 Homewood Lane, Apt. B, sold drugs to an undercover officer during the three months ending January. In November, the officer bought 30 morphine pills for $150. In December, the officer purchased 54.91 grams of hydrocodone for $228 and 40 pills of alprazolam, an antianxiety drug, for $120. In January, the officer bought 20 hydrocodone pills for $80. During that purchase, an incident report said, Wagner's 21-year-old daughter, Gina, counted the pills and accepted the money. June Wagner was held Sunday at Land O'Lakes jail on $18,600 bail. Gina Wagner was also being held. In an interview with the Pasco Times, June Wagner's daughter, Leslie, said her mother had prescriptions for the drugs. Domestic incident lands man in jail ZEPHYRHILLS -- Arrested Saturday and accused of child abuse and domestic battery, a Zephyrhills man might also face another charge after kicking out a window of a sheriff's car. Michael S. Frederick, 33, of 3715 Lanier Road, showed up at a house on Alston Avenue wanting to talk with a woman there. An incident report gave this account: When the woman refused to fix Frederick something to eat, Frederick became upset. He made remarks about shooting himself. The woman asked their 11-year-old son to go for help but Frederick grabbed him and pulled him back inside. Frederick then pushed the woman onto a couch and threw her into a chair, hitting her head against the wall. The boy escaped and a friend called the Sheriff's Office. A deputy arrived at Frederick's home to question him, describing Frederick as "extremely intoxicated." He was arrested, pending charges of child abuse, domestic battery and having a license plate on his truck that belonged to another vehicle. While in a deputy's car, Frederick began kicking the right rear window, causing about $1,200 in damage, the report said. That brought him a blast of pepper spray from the deputy -- and another pending charge of felony criminal mischief charge. His face burning, Frederick asked for help and was doused with water before being taken to the Land O'Lakes jail without further incident. He was held Sunday in lieu of $12,750 bail.
