SUNRISE - Backup goalie Martin Prusek stopped 30 shots for his first career shutout to help the Ottawa Senators beat Florida 4-0 Wednesday night.

Prusek has given up one goal in two starts in place of Patrick Lalime, who has been out with the flu. Prusek also was in net Monday when Ottawa snapped Philadelphia's 12-game unbeaten streak with a 4-1 home victory.

Zdeno Chara had a goal and two assists, matching his career high of three points. Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Martin Havlat scored the other goals.

Florida's winless streak hit four games (0-2-2).

BRUINS 6, THRASHERS 4: Martin Lapointe scored the go-ahead goal in his 700th NHL game, and Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist for visiting Boston. The Bruins weren't called for a penalty for the first time since March 28, 2001, against the Maple Leafs.

Boston snapped a four-game winless streak (0-2-1-1) while Atlanta has just one win in five games (1-4) but still leads Tampa Bay by one point in the Southeast.

PREDATORS 2, HURRICANES 1 (OT): Scott Hartnell scored 3:30 into overtime to extend visiting Nashville's winning streak to a team-record five games. It is 9-2 in its past 11 and got the victory despite allowing 41 shots.

RED WINGS 7, MIGHTY DUCKS 2: Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and two assists as Detroit spoiled Sergei Fedorov's return. After playing 13 seasons with the Red Wings, Fedorov signed a five-year, $40-million contract with Anaheim in July. He was booed every time he touched the puck, but there was a mixed reaction when he scored with 4:40 left in the second period. Fedorov was out for part of the game after he was cut on his face.

FLYERS 5, PENGUINS 2: Radovan Somik, Eric Weinrich, and Chris Therien scored their first goals of the season to help Philadelphia extend its home unbeaten streak to 13 games (11-0-2).

SABRES 3, BLACKHAWKS 2: Dmitri Kalinin and Maxim Afinogenov scored third-period goals as visiting Buffalo extended Chicago's losing streak to seven and winless slide to 12 (0-8-1-3) - its longest since 1994-95.

WILD 1, OILERS 0: Manny Fernandez stopped 34 shots for his first shutout of the season and Minnesota extended host Edmonton's winless streak to six games. Marian Gaborik scored in the first period for the Wild, which stopped a five-game winless streak with its first regulation victory over Edmonton.

RED WINGS: Veteran goaltender Curtis Joseph was put on waivers. If a team claims him by noon Friday, it will assume the remaining portion of his two-year, $16-million contract. If unclaimed, the Red Wings will continue to have a messy situation in goal. They have tried to trade Joseph since Dominik Hasek came out of retirement in July.

ALL-STAR VOTING: Atlanta Thrashers right wing Dany Heatley, who hasn't played this season after being injured in a car accident that killed teammate Dan Snyder, has received 10,368 votes for the Feb. 8 game in St. Paul, Minn. That is more votes than for 10 other East Conference wingers.
