Retro Bill, aka Bill Russ, a Hollywood writer, producer, director and actor, delivering a message about safety and self-esteem to schools throughout Pasco County last week.

Besides 19 interactive appearances held for students at schools such as Quail Hollow Elementary, the community was invited to three family nights held at Centennial Middle, Land O'Lakes High and Chasco Middle.

The appearances were funded by a grant from Safe and Drug-Free Schools, which also funds the DARE program.

After hearing about the recent abduction and murder of 11-year-old Carlie Brucia in Sarasota, Russ also donated 70 of his videos, "DARE Safety Tips Video starring Retro Bill," to public libraries in Pasco, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota and Hillsborough counties. Those interested can check them out at libraries in Holiday, Hudson, New Port Richey, Land O'Lakes, Dade City and Zephyrhills.
