Guidelines for user comments

Our goal in providing you the ability to comment on individual stories is to increase viewpoints and thus understanding of various topics. You can rant, you can rave, you can question. We ask only that you are thoughtful about what you write.

If you would like to write more than the allotted space, we invite you to submit a fuller story or opinion piece to our citizen journalism site, www.itsyourtimes.com. You will need to complete a quick registration process before posting there.

Story comments and articles submitted to itsyourtimes.com are reviewed by an editor before publication.

We don’t edit posts, but do reserve the right to delete comments that violate our guidelines.

These are the kinds of comments not appropriate for publication:

• Defamatory or libelous remarks
• Abusive, harassing, or threatening language
• Obscene, vulgar, or profane language
• Racially, ethnically or religiously offensive words
• Illegal or encourages criminal acts
• Known to be inaccurate or contains a false attribution
• Infringes copyrights, trademarks, publicity or any other rights of others
• Impersonates anyone (actual or fictitious)
• Off-topic or spam
• Solicits funds, goods or services, or advertises
